Several hours into the game, Joseph Sin-Chung was taken into CTU where he tricked Chappelle into setting off an EMP bomb. Suddenly, troops -- led by Peter Madsen -- burst into CTU and killed many staffers, including Sean Walker. After downloading relevant data, Madsen turned on his employees and in the confusion, Jack Bauer was able to break in and take down most of the terrorists. He destroyed Madsen's escape chopper, but Madsen kidnapped Jack's daughter (and new CTU employee) Kim in order to escape. He and Sin-Chung were picked up by an undercover Chase Edmunds and they escaped. Madsen then called Jack and tells him to break into Division and hack relevant files, and if he faile to do so, Kim would die. During a phone conversation that takes place while Jack is racing to another CTU office, it was revealed that Madsen once worked for Bauer. Later in the game, it was revealed that Madsen's plan is to set off explosives along intersecting fault lines near Los Angeles and cause a massive earthquake. Although Bauer, Tony Almeida,k and other CTU operatives were able to disarm the majority of the bombs, one still detonated and caused massive damage. After the quake, Madsen kidnapped Kate Warner under directions from his boss, Max. Max wanted to use Kate as leverage in order to get her father, Bob Warner, to help Max smuggle nukes out of the country. However, thanks to work from Chase and Jack, the plan failed and Madsen attempted to escape by boat, but Jack fired on it igniting the gasoline and blowing up the boat along with Madsen, killing him.

And then he came to Aiode Falls. He's got no idea how he got there, seeing as he's dead, but there's no way he's going to argue. He's got a decent job -- though he's on an impromptu vacation of sorts -- and an amazing girlfriend. Not enough chaos, but otherwise? His life is absolutely perfect.
